ATHLETICS

This term we are preparing for our school Athletics! Here are some videos for inspiration:

Standing Long Jump - an exercise used by everyone from track and field athletes to football players trying out for the NFL. Coaches use Standing Long Jumps to build leg strength in their athletes.

The CHALLENGE

The time limit for 1 suicide/shuttle is all students to get back over the line within 30sec.  SO Tommy decided he wanted to find out how fast he could do it, and then we were all pretty interested to find out who was the fastest in our class.

CLASS CONSEQUENCES

At the beginning of the year, we co-constructed a Class Treaty and explored possible options for what type of consequences students would have for not respecting and following the treaty.  


Traditional consequences such as keeping the whole class in at lunch, or writing lines didn't really appeal to us, with majority agreeing that fitness was a consequence that students would benefit from , even if it was a 'punishment'.

We do burpees, press-ups, sit-ups, bridges/planks, suicides/shuttles, laps around the field, starjumps and more recently running up and down stairs...

FREAKY FRIDAY MATHS!

Today we had our first session of Freaky Friday Maths! Students had to complete an obstacle course and work in teams to complete mathematical equations.  This week we revised addition/subtraction and multiplication/division using BEDMAS.
